The UAB Orchestra was born in the 1996-1997 academic year under the musical direction of Joan Casals. It is a training consisting of musicians who have already reached a basic level and are looking for a space of continuity where they can continue to combine music and university studies with rigor and in a pleasant way.

The Orchestra rehearses weekly and works with a flexible and diverse musical repertoire. As the members vary each course, so does the appearance and the formation of the group, which often approximates the musical profile of a chamber orchestra. Its members have a regular dedication and participate in both rehearsals and concerts that take place inside and outside the UAB throughout the year.

 

GENERAL INFORMATION COURSE 2020/21

Dates: October 15, 2020 to May 27, 2021

Rehearsal days and times: Monday and Thursday from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

And 4 extra intensive tests during the course (day and time to be determined).

The days and hours of rehearsal of the Orchestra may change due to the uncertainty caused by the Covid-19.

Validable for 6 ECTS credits (annual) or for 3 ECTS credits (semester).

VIRTUAL INFORMATION SESSION

If you want to know how the UAB Orchestra works, connect virtually with its conductor, maestro Jesús Badia, and you can listen and answer questions about its operation and proposals for the new course, entrance tests, credits, etc.

UAB ORCHESTRA information session: Monday, September 21 at 1:00 p.m. (in September we will inform about which platform will be enabled and the link that we will enable to follow it).

 

REGISTRATIONS

CURRENT MEMBERS OF THE ORCHESTRA who want to continue the next course just have to register directly and present themselves in the rehearsal on the first day.

IMPORTANT! The automatic registrations are already open. To guarantee your place in the UAB Orchestra it is important that if you want to continue participating, you must formalize your registration before September 20.

In case you want to be part of the Orchestra during the Second Semester you can register until February 28, 2021 (option subject to having places available).

* WHAT DOES THE HEARING / ACCESS TEST CONSIST OF?

Given the uncertainty caused by the Covid-19, this year the entrance exams to the UAB Orchestra will not be carried out in person.

Send 1 video with your mobile where you can be seen and heard playing in mp4 format that contains:

- A presentation indicating your name and surname.

- A work of 3 or 5 minutes or two shorter ones of different styles.

If you can have better accompaniment, otherwise there is no problem. Do some testing to see if the balance is right.

REQUIREMENTS

- Have an average level of solfege and sufficient autonomy with the instrument.

- Have previous experience as a member of any orchestra or instrumental training.

- Submit form and video with your entrance test.

- Be willing to regularly attend rehearsals with their own instrument and be available to perform inside and outside the UAB with a certain flexibility of time.

Attention! New: Members of our stable groups can register for the Viu la Cultura activity, recognized with 2 ECTS credits, free of charge, if the attendance to 16 cultural events programmed in the Theater Theater and the Cinema Hall of the UAB is accredited during the 2020/2021 course.
